How long does an assessment take? and is there a waitlist?

A typical assessment takes place over the course of four sessions: intake interview, two testing sessions (lasting approximately 2-3 hours each), and a feedback session. Additional sessions may be required depending on the needs of the child or youth. The final report will be completed 2-3 weeks after the last testing session.

Most children can be seen for assessment within 4-8 weeks.

do I need a referral from a doctor?

Not typically, but you may wish to check with your insurance carrier to determine if a referral is required for coverage.

is an assessment covered by ohip?

Unfortunately, OHIP does not cover psychological services at this time. Most extended health care plans offer some coverage. Please check with your insurance carrier to find specific details about your plan, as this varies.

will my child’s school accept the report?

Absolutely. We work very closely with local school boards to ensure that our reports contain information necessary for programming and identification, should that be a possibility.
